Legacy
House
Built in 1873, in the then popular Italianate architectural style, “Legacy
House” is located at 135 Church Street in Stratford. This
is a prime residential area of Stratford and a short walking
distance from
downtown Stratford, theatres, shops and restaurants.
The house was given a Heritage Designation in 1988 under the Ontario
Heritage Act of 1974. Its exterior features include decorative
brick details, high windows, overhanging eaves and period wooden
bracket trim. Over the years interior renovations have brought
the amenities up to date while preserving several original features
and the house's inherent charm. It includes elaborate wooden trims,
high ceilings, original crown mouldings in the grand living and
dining room as well as the entrance hallway and more.
The house interior décor has been recently changed to reflect
the host's love for the arts. The rooms are decorated based on
an “artistic
dreams” theme including Theatre, Painting, Music and Writing.
Gourmet breakfast is served in the grand dining and living room
on the main floor. This room is also available for our guests’ relaxation
and conversation. Historical books on theatre, architecture, furniture
as well as information on Stratford events and activities are available
for our guests’ enjoyment. Guests can also watch TV in the
living room or enjoy a selection of DVDs, CDs or games. A phone
and a laptop with wireless internet
are available for guests’ needs as well. A selection of books
and CDs is placed in each room for guests to relax at their leisure
in a more private environment.
Outside, a nice porch, wooden swing and pleasant garden offer
guests quiet places to relax and enjoy the weather.
Note as well that the house is fully air conditioned to ensure
your comfort during the hot days of summer.
An ideal location for your next stay in Stratford!
